Early Years / Key Stage 1
Learn to cycle
Your pupils will develop their balance and pedal a bike for the first time. These sessions are taught carefully to ensure all pupils learn the basics of getting on and off their bike without wobbling and braking safely before we even start to ride.
We remove the pedals and stabilisers from the bikes so that children have the chance to build confidence and, fundamentally, get their balance in their own time.
When they are ready, we have a go with pedals. This way, they will be able to do most of their riding without the support of an adult. We just need to give them a bit of a push when they are ready! Some children will learn in the first session, others will need more time to feel pedal-ready.
“Annie has a lovely manner with the children and I would recommend her unreservedly to local schools”

Cycle & Scooter skills
Children who can pedal independently are challenged further, to enable them to develop their cycle or scooter skills. Through fun games and challenges, we focus on the core skills of braking, steering, balance & co-ordination, and awareness.
All activities are underpinned by the important road safety messages of how to take care when cycling or scooting outside of school.

Key Stage 2

Basic bike maintenance
Your pupils will learn how the bike works, identify any problem areas, and how to clean and oil their bike to keep everything working smoothly. How about theming this as a ‘love your bike’ or a ‘bike spring clean’ event?
Puncture repair Year 3 & 4
Your pupils will learn how to fix a puncture, and will watch a demonstration of how to remove a wheel.
Puncture repair & wheel removal Year 5 & 6
Your pupils will learn how to fix a puncture, and how to remove and replace the front and back wheels.
Bike rides Year 5 & 6 / families
Your pupils and their families will be guided on a ride from the school, following quieter roads and off-road routes where possible. All cyclists need to have had cycling experience on the roads, or Bikeability training. This could be a themed ride, such as a cycle challenge, a fundraiser, or a bike picnic.
